About Audubon Vermont

Whether you’re inspired by a love of birds, concern for the environment, or the sheer pleasure of being outdoors, the Audubon Birdathon is a great opportunity to do something positive for the planet—and have fun doing it!

The Audubon Birdathon takes place over a week long period, during which you’ll go outside and count as many different bird species as you can. Pick 24-hour period over the course of the week to go birding, do a single morning or afternoon session, or head outside for an hour here or there. You can either build a birding team online—gather teammates from anywhere around the country—or bird on your own.

Any way you do it, every dollar you raise supports Audubon Vermont. From Bennington to Newport, from the Connecticut River to Lake Champlain, with your help we protect birds and the places birds need to thrive through science, advocacy, education and on-the-ground conservation programs.

We’ve lost three billion birds and two-thirds of all North American species are threatened by climate change. Audubon Vermont’s on-the-ground actions to address the threats of climate change focus on conservation of Vermont’s working forests and fields, the restoration of bird habitat with native Plants for Birds, and advocacy for strong climate policies at the local, state and federal levels.

Birdathon is one of Audubon Vermont’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Our goal is to raise $30,000 each spring. We've been doing Birdathon every year since 2000. Please consider a donation of whatever you're able to give. You’re doing a great thing by joining the Audubon Birdathon. Thank you!
