Forest Exploration

May 10, 2019

We had such a wonderful wet and rainy day at Forest Playschool!  No matter the weather, we are outside and smiling.

Our morning meeting leader wanted to spend the day going on a big hike, and planned to color as well. We are all so excited to explore the wet and rainy world of Audubon.  We geared up; made sure we were as waterproof as possible, and started on our grand adventure after snack.

We hiked down the White Pine Trail noticing that since it was raining the ground was slippery and we needed to watch our steps.  We made it down to Pepper Pond and really wanted to play a game!  We voted and chose to play Birdy Birdy Cross My Sky, and had the biggest smiles on our faces running around the field.  We checked the pond to any frog activity, but all of the frogs were too far in the pond to catch, but we did see some tadpoles on the edge of the pond.

After searching and playing our leader wanted to adventure down to the Hemlock Swamp!  Once we were down there, some of us noticed some signs of fairies, from the flowers blooming to yellow dusk (pollen) on the ground.  We spent some time building fairy houses, and search for fairies in the swamp.  Once the houses were built, we moved on to our next spot.  We hiked passed Beaver pond, went up the staircase, and chose to go on the steepest trail at Audubon, Erny’s Pass.

All of this hiking and adventuring sure tired us out, so we refueled at the Education Barn and got dry. Yay Forest Playschool Fridays!
