Audubon Vermont Welcomes David Mears as New Executive Director

It is my great pleasure to share some exciting news from Audubon Vermont. After a comprehensive national search, I am pleased to announce Audubon Vermont has a new Executive Director. On behalf of the board and staff, please join me in welcoming David Mears as Audubon Vermont’s new Executive Director!

David joins us from Vermont Law School, where he has most recently served as the Associate Dean for Environmental Programs. In his role, David directed the Environmental Law Center and oversaw academic programs associated with the law school’s environmental law and policy curriculum, and also taught and wrote in the area of environmental law. Previously, he served as the Commissioner to the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, where he led a department of 300 staff to conserve and protect Vermont’s natural resources and public health.

David is deeply committed to conservation and has spent his professional career as a proven leader, teaching and fighting for the environment. I’m confident that his enthusiasm, experience and deep connections in the state will help take Audubon Vermont to new heights.

David will begin his new position on September 4th.

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Curt Alpeter
Chair, Board of Directors, Audubon Vermont
