Special Events
Special events throughout the
year allow visitors to share in celebrating the special
nature of Vermont. For example, during the
month of March, Sugar on Snow parties offer guided walks
through the sugarbush, boiling demonstrations, and of course,
plenty of maple products to please the palate. Additional
events include the Huntington River
Festival, Birdathon and others.

These areas represent small patches of boreal communities more
commonly found across Canada. Boreal forests provide important
breeding habitat for species such as Gray Jays, Spruce Grouse,
Boreal Chickadees, Black-backed Woodpecker which can only be
found in boreal communities. Tom Berriman of Northeast Kingdom
Audubon & Bridget Butler of Audubon Vermont will co-lead the
trip. Berriman is a chapter board member and leads field trips
for the chapter as well as being a citizen scientist for the
Breeding Bird Atlas. Butler is Audubon Vermont’s Conservation
Education Coordinator and leads monthly bird monitoring walks
at the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington. Please
