Present and historic Peregrine Falcon eyres are located throughout the state and in all of Vermont's biophysical regions. All sites include steep, rocky cliffs with horizontal ledges. Vermont Natural Community Types include Boreal Acidic, Boreal Calcareous, Temperate Acidic and Temperate Calcareous cliffs.

Birds
This IBA Complex was designated for a single species, the state endangered Peregrine Falcon. As with other the other three IBA complexes, the IBA Technical Committee decided to include all known falcon site within this complex. Other species using the cliff sites include Common Raven and Turkey Vulture.

Conservation
This species, which was extripated in Vermont in the 1950's, primarily because of the pesticide DDT, has made a successful comeback since it was reintroduced in Vermont the early 1980's. Currently there are more than 25 nesting or territorial pairs with most prominent threat being human disturbance at or around eyre sites. Monitoring and protection efforts are ongoing. Peregrine Falcons recently been proposed for downlisting to state threatened.
